There have been thousands of news of people’s UPI accounts being scammed through hacking and multiple other ways as well. Technology has progressed a lot, and such hacking methods are not difficult for cybercriminals.

How do they do UPI Frauds ?

There are multiple apps through which people are now using UPI medium to transfer money and carry out transactions, such as Paytm, Google Pay, BHIM, and many more. 

Recently, there was a case where a BHIM app user was robbed off of Rs. 40,000. The unsuspecting 21-year-old talked to some representatives of the call center, however, he later found out that the call center was fake. 

RBI’s cybersecurity and IT examination cell issued warning against an app, AnyDesk, that was used by fraudsters to loot money. This app worked as a Remote Access service to illegally copy data from smartphones. Once an OTP was read by the app, hard-earned money is down the drain in seconds. 

How To Protect Your UPI Account?

It is crucial to take precautions and protect our UPI and bank accounts from being hacked. Here are some basic precautions you can take to ensure that your account is safe and secure:

• Beware of fake call centers. Make sure you are calling up the legal and official numbers of call centers in case there is any issue in the transactions carried out through an app or bank accounts.

• Do not divulge your credentials of bank accounts, UPI ids and passwords to anyone. If someone is asking you for such sensitive information, be warned. A mobile number and an email ID is sufficient to provide to a merchant.  

• Before you carry out a transaction with a merchant or a seller, make sure you go through reviews and comments. Go through with the transaction only if the second party is safe, and this can be checked through the presence or absence of trust seals.

• Secure your smartphones. Install necessary apps, such as an antivirus or a malware, that will ensure that your phone will not be hacked into. Also, put up a password on every account, every app that contains such sensitive information. Make sure you put up secure passwords and keep changing them over regular intervals. ABOUT MANUAL SCAVENGING :

Notably, employment of manual scavengers was outlawed in India 25 years ago as per the Employment of Manual Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act 1993. However, the occupation still persists, primarily due to the presence of about 2.6 million insanitary latrines (Census 2011) which require cleaning human excreta manually. In addition to the job being the epitome of social injustice, it has resulted in the deaths of many who get asphyxiated after being exposed  to harmful gases. 


मैनुअल सफाई कार्य के बारे में  : 

विशेष रूप से, मैनुअल स्केवेंजर्स और ड्राई लैट्रिन (निषेध) अधिनियम 1993 के नियोजन के अनुसार 25 साल पहले भारत में मैनुअल मैला ढोने वालों के रोजगार को गैरकानूनी घोषित किया गया था। हालांकि, कब्जे अभी भी बनी हुई है, मुख्य रूप से लगभग 2.6 मिलियन इंसानी शौचालय की उपस्थिति के कारण ( 2011 की जनगणना) जिसमें मैन्युअल रूप से मानव उत्सर्जन को साफ करने की आवश्यकता होती है। नौकरी के अलावा सामाजिक अन्याय का प्रतीक होने के कारण, इसमें कई लोगों की मौतें हुईं, जो हानिकारक गैसों के संपर्क में आने के बाद असमय ही मर जाते हैं।

BANDICOOT,  The Sweeper Robot has arrived. 

The 50-kg robotic scavenger is equipped with four robotic legs for smooth portability. It has a robotic arm with 360-degree motion which plucks out the solid waste from the corners of the manhole and collects it in a bucket. It is also equipped with a water jet which clears sewage blockages. There are cameras attached to the machine which enables one to see the footage of the manhole from inside.

The machine runs through a stand unit which has a console with buttons. The device has a simple user interface and requires only a single user to operate. In addition to this, the machine is dirtproof, waterproof, corrosion resistant, and flash proof thus preventing the risks of accidental electric sparks. It can also be easily attached to a vehicle. 

The amount of work which usually takes three to four hours and at least three manual scavengers, Bandicoot finishes it in just 45 minutes.

काम की मात्रा जो आमतौर पर तीन से चार घंटे होती है और कम से कम तीन मैनुअल मेहतर, बैंडिकूट इसे केवल 45 मिनट में पूरा करती है।

About Makers Of BANDICOOT: 

Sometime later in 2015, a 32-year-old rickshaw driver in Kozhikode died saving two manual scavengers from a manhole after the three got stuck in the pit for nearly half-a-hour. Following the incident, the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), the state government’s nodal agency for development of startups and entrepreneurship, met the quartet in an event and sought mechanised solutions to replace the job of manual scavenging. 

The team then quit their corporate jobs and formally established Genrobotics in 2017. They began researching on the issue and built Bandicoot, a remote-controlled robot which cleans up manholes, replacing the safai karamcharis and preventing thousands of manhole-related deaths.

टीम ने 2017 में अपनी कॉर्पोरेट नौकरियां छोड़ दीं और औपचारिक रूप से  "जेनरोबोटिक्स " की स्थापना की। उन्होंने इस मुद्दे पर शोध करना शुरू किया और रिमोट-नियंत्रित रोबोट "बांदीकूट " का निर्माण किया, जो मैनहोलों की सफाई करता है, सफ़ारी करमचारियों की जगह लेता है और हजारों मैनहोल से संबंधित मौतों को रोकता है।
      
No job loss or loss of livelihood for manual scavengers after introduction of BANDICOOT :

One reason why manual scavenging has continued is because it is still a source of livelihood for many who live on the fringes of the society. A robot that does their work can mean loss of jobs for many. Fortunately, that is not the case. Instead of Bandicoot costing their livelihoods, the team trains the manual scavengers to operate on the machine.
